Club By-Laws

Purpose

The purpose of the Black and Gold Club is to raise funds for the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh Foundation.  This Community serves persons with intellectual disabilities and promotes public awareness of their needs.

The names, addresses, and assigned numbers (membership number) for all Black and Gold Club members will be registered and on file at the Emmaus Community Office.

Membership in the Club entitles the member to be eligible for any and all drawings for prizes sponsored by the Club.  There will be 10 monthly drawing events for orizes of Pittsburgh sports tickets, cash, and memorabilia items prior to or on the day of the Black and Gold Club Party in the Fall.  Each month there will be four drawings.  Three winners will receive a set of sports tickets.  One winner will receive a cash prize or sports memorabilia item (with each month’s drawing alternating between a $100 cash prize and a memorabilia item, beginning with a memorabilia drawing in January).

Membership entitles the member to attend the “Black and Gold Club Party” in October 2009.  Additional guest tickets may be purchased before the event.

Membership Dues

Membership dues for the Black and Gold Club are $120.  They are payable in one payment of $120 or ten monthly payments of $12 each.  (Please note that monthly payments of $12 must be paid from the months of January 2009 to october 2009.  No payments will be due in the months of November or December.)  If a member’s dues are not paid up-to-date, said member will not be eligible for monthly drawings and will not receive a ticket for the Black and Gold Club Party.

Monthly dues are payable prior to the first Monday of each month.  In all cases, the drawings for the month will take place on the first Monday of each month.If a member is delinquent in payment, the Black and Gold Club Committee will remove their name from the drawing and find them in default.  Said member will have ten (10) days to bring dues current.  All dues paid up to the default are forfeited.

 

Drawings

1. “Early Bird” Bonus Drawing

This drawing for a $200 cash prize will take place on December 23rd, 2008.  To be eligible for the drawing, your membership dues ($120) must be paid in one lump sum before December 23rd, 2008.  The winner’s number will go back in the container for subsequent drawings.

*Remember, to be eligible for any and all drawings, your dues must be current.

2.  Monthly Drawings

Three drawings for Pittsburgh sports tickets and one drawing for a cash prize or sports memorabilia item will be held regularly on the first Monday of each month.  The “cash or memorabilia” drawing will alternate between cash and memorabilia each month, beginning with a memorabilia drawing in January of 2009.  The first name drawn each month will win the tickets with the highest value.  The second name drawn will win the tickets with the next highest value.  teh third name drawn will win the tickets with the lowest value.  the fourth name drawn will win the sports memorabilia item or cash prize, depending on the alternating monthly schedule.  To be eligible for these drawings, your dues must be paid up to and including the month the drawings are held.  For example, in order to have your name entered in the January 2009 drawings, your dues, up to and including January’s, must be paid by the first Monday of January 2009 (1/5/09).

3.  Black and Gold Party Event!

In October 2009, Emmaus will hold its Black and Gold Club Party.  All members whose dues are up-to-date will receive a ticket to the event.  Guest tickets will be available for purchase.  The party will feature cash prizes, raffles, food, beverages, and family fun.  The party will signify the end of the 2009 Black and Gold Club, and no drawings will take place in November or December.  the 2010 Black and Gold Club will resume in January of 2010.

The decision of the Black and Gold Club Committee of the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh will govern all eventualities not covered by these by-laws.  their decisions will be final.  All profits raised by this Club will be turned over to the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh Foundation.

The Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh Foundation was founded to provide financial support for the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh and its mission of providing residential homes for persons with intellectual disabilities and promoting public awareness of their needs.  To accomplish its mission, the Emmaus Community works toward the following goals:

*To maintain the highest quality of care in residential homes that foster acceptance by the community;

*To create an environment where everyone can use their abilities and live to their fullest potential;

*To educate the community about the needs of persons with developmental disabilities and advocate for a productive response to those needs; and
